Programming Solids Without Edge Distractions

  • Direct setup from solid model: When programming a 2D toolpath on a solid model, you no longer need to extract the edges, erase the islands, or define open areas with dotted lines. You can now set that up directly from the solid
  • Advanced roughing toolpaths: You can access advanced roughing toolpaths with high-speed capabilities and federate control, which help to reduce run times and tool wear
  • Copy and paste toolpath parameters: Enjoy the convenience of copying and pasting toolpath parameters, saving you from the repetitive task of setting the same parameters. This user-friendly feature enhances workflow efficiency
  • Quick drilling operations: Program your drilling operations in seconds. Whether the solid is imported or drawn in BobCAD CAM, the system will recognize and program all possible holes. It understands the initial position and depth for taps, counter bores, chamfers, blind, or through holes

Upgrade to BobCAD-CAM V37

New Features 

  • Advanced Rough Toolpaths: Version 37 introduces new settings for more efficient roughing, reducing unnecessary retractions and air cuts.
  • Stock-Aware Linking: Optimized link height keeps tool movement closer to the stock, minimizing excess movement and improving overall efficiency.
  • Improved Retraction Control: The new settings ensure fewer retractions, lowering them to just above the stock instead of retracting to rapid planes.
  • Streamlined Workflow: These updates help maintain safety while cutting, without wasting time on unnecessary repositioning.

Taper Pocket

This is a perfect example of an important feature request implemented in V37. To program a simple taper pocket, you would have to create a solid model with the taper or draft angle and then use a 3D roughing operation like advanced roughing to generate the toolpath. The 2D Pocket toolpath will allow you to set a taper or draft angle to generate the toolpath directly from the wireframe.

When cutting a flat surface with gaps or fragments, like a pocket, you had to create an additional surface to cover the gaps and fragments, right? Well, by selecting the ignore gaps feature, the toolpath will cut the entire surface without any CAD redesign of the original part.

It’s common for machine shops to use different tool providers and tool groups for specific jobs or materials. One frequent complaint from the BobCAD community was the lack of multiple tool libraries in our system. With V37, we’ve addressed this. Now, you can manage multiple tool libraries, enjoy a revamped tool creation workflow, improved Tool Crib, and added merge options for tool Crib import.

This is a smarter toolpath. When cutting multiple surfaces, the system optimizes the cutting order to reduce inefficient linking and unnecessary retractions. Many users have complained about their toolpath jumping across the part instead of cutting adjacent areas efficiently.
